if a flint is a gold color, it's a true zippo flint, and if it's a gray or black, don't use it for it might clog up the grooves in the flint wheel and it won't spark, even with good flints. remember, gold is good!

True Zippo flints are the greatest. They work the best for Zippo lighters.

Maybe I just smoke too much, but it seems to me that Zippo flints don't last worth a damn anymore!
I seem to constantly be changing flints out!

I agree with the other two people. I've tried 'other' company's flints and found them to be nowhere near the quality spark that a true zippo flint gives. I have a 21 year old zippo (which is young by the standards of the company) that I stopped being the ultra reliable zippo that it always was, and it turned out it was the years of abuse of using generic flints. Once I cleaned the wheel with a brass brush and installed the genuine zippo flint, the zippo returned to it's ultra reliable one flick lighting that I've always enjoyed.

it is certainly true that the zippo flints are all that they say they are, and while i noticed the ignition of the zippo flints was slightly less sharp, they truly last long and well, just like that of a zippo lighter
